My name is Kate and I am a professional, qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in London and the South East.
My sessions at the moment (March 2020) are currently over video conferencing and also telephone therapy which I feel is a vital aspect of the service I offer to clients, especially during these unprecedented and worrying times.
I am a registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy dip.Cpcab.
I have undertaken a number of voluntary, temporary, sessional and permanent roles in London and Essex working in treatment centres. I have also undergone extensive training which complements and enhances my therapeutic work. This includes addiction, co-dependency, relationship issues, Couple Counselling, depression, anxiety and stress in the workplace.
My experience has included working as a psychotherapist in a rehabilitation wing in a prison, Various GP surgeries and treatment centres for Drug and Alcohol addiction. I am also fully conversant with working through the 12-step recovery approach.
Prior to working in mental health and addiction, I worked in the corporate sector where I developed strong mentoring, management, training and leadership skills. I have a good understanding of the stresses of working life, particularly the balance between the personal and the professional; the private and public.
With a strong background in mental health, education, business and the field of addiction, my knowledge and experience has allowed me to see problems from a broader angle in assisting people find their own unique way to deal with their difficulties. I understand the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies.
I am fully insured, have ongoing clinical supervision and regularly attend courses and further training to enhance my knowledge and professionalism with Continued Professional Development (CPD).
